Merrow Border for Custom Embroidery Patches
Interlocking Border for Patches
The merrow border, also known as the overlock border, offers a fine and clean edge, preventing embroidery patches from wearing out. This strong and sharp border not only signifies professionalism but also enhances the aesthetic value of a patch. Merrow borders are typically used for more regular shapes, and their width is usually around 3mm. We have recently been equipped with automatic merrow border machines, ensuring faster lead times and improved quality. The automatic merrow border machine for patches follows a fixed and programmed process, with consistent speed. Therefore, all shapes are exactly the same, which is something manual work cannot achieve, especially for irregular shapes. In this video, witness the seamless operation of our automatic merrow border machine, effortlessly handling a variety of regular and irregular shapes. The merrowed border enhances the quality of patches, ensuring a polished finish while also contributing to cost savings.
Merrow border, sometimes known as overlocking, is visible from the front to the back, as it is applied after the embroidery design is finished. Merrow border is perfect for embroidery patches with regular shapes, and there is no extra cost for this. However, as the width of the merrow border is around 3 mm, when patch size is smaller than 2 inches (50 mm), it is recommended to use alternative methods instead of merrow border.
The Merrow border is the quickest and simplest option for embroidery patches, especially for regular shapes like round, square, rectangular, or triangles. For irregularly shaped designs, it is recommended to use heat cut borders or laser cut borders to retain the original shapes as much as possible.
