Mold Engraving for Custom Pins, Coins, Medals, and More
We have both manual and CNC mold engraving capabilities. Manual engraving is primarily used for 2D flat designs for die-cutting, while CNC engraving machines can be used for a wide range of applications, including zinc alloy and die-cutting in 2D and 3D designs. We operate 10 CNC engraving machines. Typically, the engraving process can be completed in 30 to 60 minutes. However, the mold must undergo heat treatment for 12 to 24 hours before it can be used in production, depending on its size. We also manually create the silicone molds required for pewter products.

Manual Mold Engraving: We manually engrave the molds for die-stamping products primarily because it is faster, and the time required for mold heat treatment is shorter. Unless the design for die-stamping is complex or very three-dimensional, manual mold engraving remains the preferred method for such products.
CNC Molding Machines: Jin Sheu uses CNC mold engraving machines for all zinc alloy products, as well as for die-stamping products. Our commitment to this advanced technology ensures precise and intricate designs, particularly for items with complex patterns or 3D effects. Due to the high demand for these capabilities, our CNC molding machines are consistently fully booked. This dedication to quality craftsmanship and cutting-edge technology allows us to deliver exceptional products that exceed expectations in both quality and design.
Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM): The video showcases our use of electrical discharge machining to create uniform granulated backgrounds on molds and dies. The textures created by this machine are even and consistent. We can customize patterns at no extra cost, as the pattern will be made into the molds during molding. The granulated patterns #1 to #3 (please refer to the video) on our texture wheel can be generated by this machine. Other patterns, such as cross-hatching or pebbles, are typically crafted by hand.
Heat Treatment Process in Mold Making: We use raw steel for mold engraving, which is softer and easier to work with. Finished molds must undergo heat treatment to increase their hardness before they can withstand continuous die-stamping and injection. The heat treatment process for die-struck molds usually takes 12 hours, while zinc alloy molds require 24 hours to complete this process.
